However, I would suggest you work hard at your maths GCSE to be good with numbers. Apart from I couldn't really suggest anything else. Accountants generally are professional, so you may think about working at your ICT and English Literature GCSE aswell. Once your at college I would try at an accountant A level and maths A level. Then you've got another 2 choices of A levels to be able to have something to expand your future prospects.

Q. I want to become an accountant for sure. I'm researching, and I see that there are several different types of accountants. Tax, audit and enterprise risk, financial advisory, internal, and consulting. Out of these, which one is the most lucrative, interesting, and most fulfilling overall. Why?

Forensic Accounting is the most 'interesting type of accounting' possibly the most.. unexpected and out of the ordinary. however some people may like tax/audit/financial etc.. but i think for the most part those types of accounting are pretty... 'boring'. to become an accountant you need a CPA (in America or a CA in Canada) which requires you to have an undergraduate degree with certian courses. My suggestion is to start taking the undergraduate introduction to accounting courses to get a taste of the types of accounting before you choose what to specialize in.

Q. I need to get info to my accountant about my stock sales this past year for personal income tax purposes. I keep a spreadsheet of the stock, date purchased & # of shares, date sold & # of shares, price of stock at time of purchase, and price of stock at time of sale. I've also calculated cost basis. But my accountant doesn't need all these numbers do they? What information should I give them?

Q. I support QuickBooks in a technical sense, and need more insider knowledge of QuickBooks. Right now, the program could be in Chinese and it wouldn't matter, because I just set up the network and the backup scenarios. I need better access to current compatibility information and the like, and the best way seems to become a certified QuickBooks advisor. The problem is, I am NOT an accountant by any stretch of the imagination. But, isn't QuickBooks written for non-accountants? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

A. You don't need to be an accountant - you just need a general understanding of basic accounting practices. QB is easy to learn and does the accounting for you. If you know the difference between A/R and A/P, and you can balance a checking account - you're good to go.
